At County Federal, we not only strive to meet our members’ financial needs, but our employees also contribute personal time to support community outreach programs in local areas. We do this by sponsoring and participating in a variety of community and volunteer events.
County Federal Sponsored Events
County Federal’s Book Drive
County Federal employees and families collect books to be donated to various organizations throughout Santa Clara County. This year, over 750 books were distributed to the following three organizations: the San Jose Public Library Alum Rock Branch, Gateway School in Gilroy and South County Community School in San Martin.
This year we awarded six one-year educational scholarships to graduating high school seniors and post-secondary students enrolled in an accredited university or community/technical college full and part-time. Awards ranged from $500 for community/technical colleges to $1,500 for four-year colleges.
SCCOE Teacher Recognition Night
Each year, the Santa Clara County Office of Education recognizes exceptional teachers from every school district for their dedication to Santa Clara County Schools. An awards ceremony is held in September for these chosen teachers. County Federal has co-sponsored this event for over twenty years. Our sponsorship of this event over the years is one small way of expressing our thanks and appreciation to one of the County’s most important resources, its teachers. The contributions of a teacher touch the lives of so many people, both during and after their K-12 school years. It is in the spirit of these enduring contributions that we honor this elite group of outstanding teachers.
Back-to-School Drive & Backpack Sort
For the past several years, County Federal has partnered with The Family Giving Tree to collect backpacks filled with school supplies for low-income, at-risk children in Santa Clara County. In addition, County Federal employees volunteer to help sort and tag all donated backpacks.
Teddy Bears On Patrol
County Federal’s Teddy Bears on Patrol Program has collected and distributed teddy bears to local law enforcement agencies, school districts, and organizations, such as Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. These groups give the stuffed animals to children to console them in traumatic situations. Each year, we collect and donate over 2,800 stuffed animals.
Holiday Gift Sort
Every holiday season, County Federal employees descend upon The Family Giving Tree to participate in their annual Holiday Gift Sort. They help sort and wrap the thousands of donated gifts. The Family Giving Tree helps fulfill over 60,000 holiday wishes for low-income and at-risk children.
Annual Kids’ Holiday Party
Every holiday season, County Federal hosts the Annual Kids’ Holiday Party! All members and M3 Money Club Account members are invited to see Santa and Mrs. Claus at our Corporate Center. Take a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, take part in some arts and crafts, and take a ride on the holiday train. No reservations needed, just come out and join the fun!
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Every Tax Year, County Federal offers the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. A free tax help service for people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
Donation Requests & Charitable Giving
Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union (“County Federal”) has been part of the community for over 65 years. We are committed to making the community better by being a generous supporter of our local communities, where our members live and work, and our involvement with its local organizations. Because the requests are numerous, and we utilize budgeted financial resources, we have implemented guidelines in order to assist as many organizations as possible.
If you are interested in seeking a donation, please review the following guidelines before submitting your request. County Federal reserves the right to consider each donation request on a case-by-case basis.
Monetary Donations and Sponsorships Guidelines
County Federal will only consider monetary donation and sponsorship requests from non-profit/community-based organizations. County Federal will give priority consideration to organizations that foster growth and development within the communities we support (Santa Clara County).
A contribution is typically used to raise funds for the benefit of at least one of the following purposes:
- Community Service
- Youth Activities
- Special Community Projects
- Other Criteria
County Federal will make every effort to process your request in a timely manner. We will contact all organizations regardless of approval or denial of your request. A decision to deny a request does not imply that the applicant’s program is not needed or worthy, but simply that it does not fall within our Charitable Giving/Sponsorship guidelines, priorities, or that funds are not available.
If more information about a specific organization is needed, a representative of County Federal will contact the organization.
If your organization is part of County Federal’s field of membership and you would like to discuss how we can partner to benefit our community, please contact Rachael Moreno at (408) 282-0712.
